OOctant Douro, located in the village of Raiva, municipality of Castelo da Paiva, is, without a doubt, one of the most exclusive places we have visited. With a location practically above the Douro River, this hotel values refinement and comfort, which are surrounded by the natural landscape characteristic of this region.

 

This Hotel, a project byOctant Hotels, was renovated in 2019 and currently has 56 rooms and 5 suites. Its construction is covered in schist and glass, and is camouflaged in the mountain slopes. Many of its areas date back to 1700, when it was a riverside farm and port for the trade of wine and firewood.

 

One of the strengths ofOctant Douro and what makes it more characteristic is the design of the rooms – minimalist, in light tones, where comfort and the spectacular view over the Douro River will seduce anyone.

 

The Hotel also has two outdoor swimming pools and a very interesting SPA, with the usual sauna and Turkish bath spaces. The dynamic pool, although in our opinion the water temperature is a little lower than desirable, it gives us the feeling of being practically above the Douro River, which, together with the effect of the artificial fireplace at the back of the room, allows a unique feeling of calm and relaxation, especially on a late winter afternoon!

 

In parallel, the Hotel also has a cinema room, meeting rooms, library, as well as different spaces spread throughout the common areas, where it is possible to enjoy a read or a drink. Always with the comfort of cozy fireplaces and an intimate and comfortable decor. The view over the river is also always present in any part of the Octant Douro, being its main brand image.

 

With regard to the gastronomic menus, both at breakfast and lunch/dinner levels, the service has a wide variety and quality, and, despite not being a winery hotel, it has a list of high quality wines (with natural predominance of the Douro region). A service worthy of a true 5-star hotel.

 

In our opinion, without a doubt, a Hotel that deserves our highlight!
